Cure CMD Named Official Charity Partner of the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon

Logos displayed side by side on a light background. On the left, the TCS New York City Marathon logo with the Statue of Liberty torch icon and the text “Official Charity Partner TCS New York City Marathon.” On the right, the Cure CMD logo featuring a stylized DNA strand in a blue and orange circle, with the text “Cure CMD” and the tagline “a cure is among us.”

Cure CMD is thrilled to share that we have been selected as an Official Charity of the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon, taking place on Sunday, November 1, 2026, and produced by New York Road Runners (NYRR).

The 2026 race will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic five-borough course, first run in 1976. To mark this milestone year, NYRR is expanding its Official Charity Partner Program to include more than 670 charities - the most ever - and has set an ambitious goal of raising more than $100 million through the 2026 race.

The NYC Marathon is one of the largest and most inclusive sporting events in the world, bringing together more than 55,000 athletes who run the same 26.2-mile course across all five boroughs of New York City.

Now, Cure CMD is honored to be part of this historic moment.

Meet Team Cure CMD

We are incredibly grateful for our four dedicated runners who have committed to raising a minimum of $3,000 each to support Cure CMD’s mission to fund research, advance treatments, and provide resources for individuals and families affected by congenital muscular dystrophy (CMD).

Our 2026 Team Cure CMD Runners:

Mark Beare - Oregon, CMD Dad & Cure CMD Board Member

David Broughton - Georgia, CMD Friend

Chris Torrente - New Jersey, CMD Uncle

Jake Hansen - New York, CMD Friend

Every mile they run and every dollar they raise helps move the field forward and brings meaningful hope to the CMD community. We cannot thank them enough for their dedication and heart.

Turning Research Momentum Into Progress

Research progress does not happen on its own. It takes sustained funding, strong partnerships, advocacy, and a committed community to move promising discoveries from the lab toward real treatments.

“We are entering this marathon season with incredible momentum in CMD research,” shared Avery Roberts, Community Engagement Coordinator at Cure CMD. “Recent advancements like gene therapy progress and new collaborations give us real hope, but while we celebrate these advancements, we recognize that continued community support is essential to help move these breakthroughs forward and bring them across the finish line as well.”

The NYC Marathon gives us a powerful opportunity to do exactly that - transforming awareness, energy, and community engagement into support that fuels ongoing research and accelerates progress for our CMD community.
